Cafe on Beach

Mom and Dad arrived late last night! Kids loved pretending to be asleep so Grandma & Grandpa can wake them up!!

Then we're off to Cafe on the Beach for a great breakfast with an even better view. They offer all you can eat pancakes and sausage. Steven was most excited about the pancakes! A few of us had great omelets instead. Mmm mmm. And the coffee is nice and strong.

After we get good and full, it's time to walk along this stretch of beach. This beach is a little more shell-y than the beach by the Sandbar; so we have fun collecting shells and building a sand castle.

First Sunset June 6, 2009

After getting all settled and joining kids in the fabulous pool, we have a quick meal and decide to hit the beach for a glorious sunset. The cottage is well stocked; it even includes a wagon for hauling our stuff to the beach! We stroll down Pine Avenue to the beach entrance just North of the Sandbar restaurant.

The feel of the sand under your feet...like talcum powder. The water is a beautiful emerald green. There is a wedding photographer snapping pictures of a happy couple in front of the Sandbar. Various people scattered about the beach.

This is the first Ocean that the kids have experienced [that they remember]. My oldest isn't sure about the salt water! We're from the Midwest, so we're used to freshwater lakes. The water is just warm enough not to be startling but cool enough to still refresh.

After playing for a while, we decide to sit back and enjoy the view. Everyone is gearing up for the sunset. It does not disappoint. It is spectacular.

Arrival June 6, 2009

After a frenzied week at Disney World, otherwise known as the Happiest Place on Earth, we threw everything we could find into bags, grabbed the dog from the kennel, said Adios to the schedules, and headed to the beach......

We rented a place through vrbo.com called "Pineapple Cottage", I just love the name I admit it. I'm all about the "cutesy" factor. This place screamed cute! An adorable 2 bedroom with a private pool and dog friendly. Perfect. And there was a 1 bedroom right in front of it for Mom and Dad. They like to vacation with us but ESCAPE when needed [with the Three Musketeers, who can blame them! ;o)].

It takes about an hour an a half to arrive...plus add a little for the grocery stop along the way. The island is perfect. Charming, not pretentious, quaint....our cottage is exactly as described and so is the island. Yipee!! We throw the kids in the pool to swim and play while we go about the business of moving in for the week. Ahhh. Paradise.
